4 matches were played on the opening day of the Men’s U23 WMF World Cup and we saw a staggering 44 goals.

A strong Serbian team got us off and running in the first match against an Azerbaijan side who had high hopes for this tournament themselves, Serbia raced into a 2-0 lead and despite Azerbaijan halving the deficit and getting a foothold in the game, the Serbs put the game to bed once their opponents saw their Goalkeeper sent off for a professional foul, and eventually won the match 5 goals to 1.

Slovakia comfortably beat England 4-0 in their match up. The English were no match for their counterparts, who were in total control from the first whistle. The Slovakians could even afford to miss a late penalty.

Colombia and Austria was a great game with Colombia twice coming from behind to eventually take the game 5-2, but Austria will take solace from their performance and will hope for better look against Slovakia tomorrow.

In the only other game on day 1, former world champions, Czechia, racked up an astonishing 26-1 victory against an Indian side that probably scored the goal of the day.

Tomorrow we have all the live action from the second day of this year’s tournament, so make sure you join us and don’t miss a second of the action.
